Overview

For Skintheory, we produced a 60 second commercial to launch their new products, Multi Use Spray and Antioxidant Suncream formulated with Salmon DNA.

The objective was clear. Show protection. Show confidence. Show that skincare can stand strong under the Bali sun.

Instead of creating a generic beauty commercial, we built the concept around Bali heritage. The film features Kecak dancers and Balinese dancers as symbolic representation of strength, culture, and natural resilience. We wanted to connect the idea of skin protection with something powerful and rooted in identity.

The beach setting plays an important role. Outdoor environment, direct sunlight, wind, open space. This visually reinforces that the product is made for real exposure, not just indoor lifestyle.

Production was physically demanding. The beach location was far from the equipment drop point, which meant our team had to carry heavy gear across sand early in the morning. Not exactly a gym membership, but close enough. The weather was also cloudy, making it technically challenging to capture the clear blue sky we initially aimed for. Still, we adjusted lighting strategy and color grading to maintain a clean and premium visual result.

The final commercial presents Skintheory as a confident, modern skincare brand rooted in strength, culture, and outdoor lifestyle.

Objective

Launch Skintheory Multi Use Spray and Antioxidant Suncream with Salmon DNA through a culturally inspired commercial that communicates protection and outdoor confidence.

Approach

We developed a concept inspired by Bali heritage, blending traditional performance elements with modern skincare positioning. Kecak and Balinese dance were used as visual metaphors for strength and protection.

Beach sequences were designed to highlight sun exposure and outdoor activity, reinforcing the product’s barrier and protection benefits.

Because of heavy logistics and unpredictable weather, production planning was essential. Equipment transport, time management, and adaptive lighting setup ensured smooth execution despite environmental limitations.
